Notes

ADV COMPASS L3574 is the most unique purebred Simmental bull the breed has had to date. Compass was the high-selling bull of all breeds offered at the historic Waggonhammer Ranch in Albion, NE, during their Spring 2024 production sale. We believed so strongly in the true potential of this bull that we outcompeted the top Simmental genetics programs in the country to acquire him 100% for River Creek Farms. This acquisition is a testament to our relentless pursuit of the best Simmental cattle in the world. Compass is a true unicorn, boasting exceptional EPDs and rankings: top 10% for CE, top 15% for BW and MILK, and top 1% for WW, YW, ADG, DOC, CW, MARB, API, and TI, along with a top 25% ranking for Stay. No other purebred Simmental bull comes close to this extraordinary combination of economically relevant traits (ERTs). Compass is not just a breed-changing bull but one that transcends all beef breeds. While Compass can undoubtedly be used as a heifer bull, he also offers unparalleled genetic growth and marbling potential. His expected matings improve the future calves of every female, and we are incredibly excited about his progeny. He will be our most heavily used sire, with calves expected to start hitting the ground this spring. Compass offers EPDs and indexes previously found only in the straight Angus population, making him a true game-changing bull. Phenotypically, Compass is deep-bodied and smooth-made, with extra reach up front and a relaxed, correct pastern angle. His slick hair coat and shedding ability make his offspring well-suited to thrive on fescue and coastal grasses, even during the hot and humid summers of the South. To extend his impact, we have made the difficult decision to allow a select few elite breeders access to his genetics through semen packages. A total of 20 packages, each containing 50 units, will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. No additional semen will be available until 2026.
